Necklace: Crystal, glass, sterling silver.
Today was a busy day for making jewelry, and this necklace was my best result. I also tweaked a bracelet that features a microreader, so I'm still in touch with that (pic soon) even though today's necklace is fairly traditional. It's in line with a plain string of beads. but incorporates many facets, shapes and planes to become fierce in a subtle, sparkly way.
Always looking for new contexts for my stories as well as deals on eBay, I ordered a few LED belt buckles with the idea I'd make bracelets with them. Alas, when they arrived they weren't very cooperative. They're much bigger and heavier than I expected, don't balance well on a wrist, and stretch and distort the fabric bases.
I could work with that if they didn't have a bigger problem: the primitive LED controls don't allow spaces between words. The menu permits the alphabet and a handful of special characters, that's all. I might still do something with dashes instead of spaces, but bleh. Overall it wasn't a success. Instead of wearable literature, I have non-functional art (if that).
The second piece, with the faux sheepskin, isn't quite done (lacks a fastener) and will never work out as a bracelet so I'll use it in something else instead. Not sure what yet. Experiments beget other experiments. Further research required.
