Mon, 30 May 2011 20:47:00 -0700 Apply, Submit, Try http://blueberrio.posterous.com/may http://blueberrio.posterous.com/may

May was a quiet month for publications but ended with work in a new (old) medium. Early on there was an entry for the

I also had an aphorism (from a tweet) made into a poster for the awesome Signs of Affection project. "Apply, submit, try. Chance becomes opportunity" is as much about the poster itself, as it is private encouragement to each viewer. It's been postered in Leeds, and copies are in the mail for me to put up in Vancouver. Exciting!

All the published microfiction, to be more accurate, can be found in a link archive here. Over 120 stories in a wide array of Twitter journals and e-zines.

I'm having technical issues that Tumblr support can't seem to solve, and will shift everything over here to Posterous. I'm not in a big hurry, though, since you can still browse the archive as is. I just can't log in to update, but that's not your problem.

Enjoy the stories! Would love to hear feedback about your favourites.

Sat, 02 Apr 2011 16:24:00 -0700 Bracelets http://blueberrio.posterous.com/bracelets http://blueberrio.posterous.com/bracelets

Bracelets: 1. wrist cuff of white lace, khaki webbing and LED belt buckle. 2. faux sheepshin strap, silver/gold lame ribbon, black webbing and LED belt buckle.

Always looking for new contexts for my stories as well as deals on eBay, I ordered a few LED belt buckles with the idea I'd make bracelets with them. Alas, when they arrived they weren't very cooperative. They're much bigger and heavier than I expected, don't balance well on a wrist, and stretch and distort the fabric bases.

I could work with that if they didn't have a bigger problem: the primitive LED controls don't allow spaces between words. The menu permits the alphabet and a handful of special characters, that's all. I might still do something with dashes instead of spaces, but bleh. Overall it wasn't a success. Instead of wearable literature, I have non-functional art (if that).

The second piece, with the faux sheepskin, isn't quite done (lacks a fastener) and will never work out as a bracelet so I'll use it in something else instead. Not sure what yet. Experiments beget other experiments. Further research required.
